Last minute post!

This will be a short and sweet post, because it's 10:30pm and I have a flight in the morning... Yet to finish packing, but stuff it... if I missed packing anything, I'll have to live 10 days without it *clings on to the mountain of stuff toys on bed*.

So this post will be the outdated Valentine's Day post. It's been a week of good food and it continues. I have a feeling after this week, I'll be taking a break from fine dining and expensive food for months, with the satisfaction of having used my entertainment card to its worth.

So V Day was spent with Madara, while icie and tt tagged along as lightbulbs =P
From Weeks 7-8, 2011
At Ocean Room~
See, the wonderful thing of going out with Madara is that she only eats chicken/turkey and vegetables, so dishes had to be specially made for her~ as it was in our booking that she had special requirements, the head chef obliged and made a special menu just for her :) awww~ this was her avocado starter, whereas the rest of us had "king crab and edamame espuma". Bottom is an intense consomme jelly, topped with chilled fresh edamame espuma and barely poached Alaskan king crab.

Special dish #2: Chicken breast with citrus sauce.

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Rest of us had Sushi and Sashimi omakase- market fresh nigiri sushi in three unique ways: sashimi trio matching seasonal condiments. Most of it was king fish I think.

Special dish #3: UNKNOWN. This was the weirdest dish there. As this is a special diet dish, we assumed it'd be chicken, but when madara poked it, it wobbled and jiggled, so we assumed it was tofu, but it tasted funny. Asked the waiter what it was, he said he'd check with the head chef... but when he came back, he glanced at us and walked right past. Something's fishy....

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
We had Snapper bath- pan seared pink snapper, pernod scented clam broth, julienned vegetables and aromatic spice infused oil. The broth was nice...

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
... but what was that?? Mystery remains unsolved.

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Special dish #4: Chicken roll with... it looks like asparagus, but it could have been spring onions inside. Not sure.

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
We had silky spring lamb: roasted spring lamb rack, slow roasted garlic aioli, soy-mirin jus, brasied sweet spring onion. Not a big fan of spring onions in their entirety like that, but everything else was pretty alright. Thank goodness they didn't pair lamb with cous cous!!

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
Dessert was the same for everyone: Chocolat & Cerise- milk and white chocolate mousse parcel, dark cherry granita, plum wine marinated cherry.

From Weeks 7-8, 2011
I get two cherries cos I'm special! jk~ madara couldn't have alcohol because she's underage :P

From Weeks 7-8, 2011

Food was alright, wouldn't consider it to be the best, but impeccable service and the fact that they'd dish up a specially made menu for different diets was a plus... though after going to the next fine dining restaurant, Ocean Room certainly paled many folds. That will be in the next entry~

Oh, and too bad entertainment card doesn't work on V Day.

BYE SYDNEY SIDERS!

Hmm, I still prefer Rise =) I don't think they put in much effort for some of Madara's dishes too...

Take care overseas, don't do anything silly~
